Most people think that learning Japanese is very difficult. If you were brought up speaking a Western language, the many nuances and lyrical tone of Japanese may be difficult to learn. It takes some time, but you will one day be able to appreciate the unusual and beautiful sounds of Japanese. Sadly, some people never make the effort to learn Japanese, assuming that it will be too hard. What you have to realize is that everyone has the ability to learn several languages! You do have to devote a certain amount of time and hard work into it, though. Just make up your mind that you will become fluent in Japanese, and you can make it a reality. If you read and apply some of these tricks, you can make your Japanese study a little simpler.
Watching Anime movies and programs is a great way to learn! This won't even feel like work; you can enjoy watching the show and you'll learn new words and phrases. These movies and shows known as Anime are a widespread form of animation made in Japan. Anime is now quite popular in the West, and you can find it in Japanese with subtitles or dubbed in English (which won't do you much good!).This type of animation now has a cult following all over the Western world, and can be found in Japanese with subtitles or dubbed in English, though the latter won't help you learn Japanese! Finding Anime isn't difficult; look on the web or anywhere that sells or rents dvds and videos. You have to find shows that are in Japanese with subtitles, so you can listen and read the subtitles. By simply watching and listening, you will develop a vocabulary and discover how phrases are used. This way of learning Japanese is more like entertainment than study, but it works! You also have to learn the basic characters used in Japanese. You should first learn to recognize symbols and how they sound; don't be concerned with spelling yet. If you have difficulties, you can then write down something that is at least an approximation of what you are trying to say to someone. This is very useful if you ever go to Japan and are not yet fluent enough to be able to speak confidently. By doing this, you will be learning how to read in the new language as well as being able to communicate by writing things down phonetically.
One trick you can use to speed up your learning process is to use any Japanese recordings or downloads at times when you are not focusing on learning. You can learn a lot by practicing a language directly with drills and lessons. The subconscious also absorbs information, however, even when you aren't aware of it.
