Is Your Antique Teapot Solid Silver or Silver Plated?
If you love to picked up antique silverware you will very probably either own or else you will come across a silver teapot at some specific point. Many individuals that are not familiar with collecting silver fear that they may mistake something that's silver plated for a real sterling silver item.

Silver plated items, including a silver tray, teapot or tea set will also have marks, such as the maker's name and it will regularly include some reference to the undeniable fact that it has been made with plated silver, usually an outline of the quantity of silver that was applied to the piece.
It's not straightforward to find joins in the metal yourself thanks to the superior craftsmanship of this period, however any silver plated ware would have some sign of the plating being applied and joined. If you are not able to tell by checking the markings on the base of your silver teapot you might want to take it to a pro antique dealer to have it assessed. They take lots more things into account, including the appearance or feel of joins on the metal and the particular design and shape of the piece.
